September 2024 Panel Upgrade

30/08/2024 to 02/09/2024: Major downtime on panel.rapid.space

The Rapid.Space panel (panel.rapid.space) will be unavailable from 30/08/2024 (3:00 PM GMT) to 02/09/2024 (6:00 PM GMT) due to a major upgrade.

This upgrade will include a major overhaul of the whole interface and backend of the Panel. 

Your ORS will still function normally, however you will not be able to modify it's configuration on the panel during this time.

Single account policy

Starting from the upgrade, all your ORS services will have to be managed from one account only. The login of this account will be assigned to you (it will be the name of your company), and you will be able to set the password by clicking the "Forget password" button and using the link received by email.

You will be able to change it later on your account or by contacting us.

While we understand this can seem as a major drawback, this decision was made in order to simplify and accelerate the development of the new upgrade, allowing to focus on the most important features. Please also note that:

• Users with admin access to your project will still be able to access all services, but admin users requires knowledge of the Rapid.Space cloud infrastructure
• It will still be possible to add new accounts to your project which will be able to request new sim cards only

What the new upgrade will improve

• Performance improvements: ORS will apply your configuration changes right after you do them on the panel instead of having to wait several minutes
• Better security: All users (including ours) now have clearly defined roles which will limit their access on the panel, this can be extensively configured on the Panel. The code database has been re-writed and all hard-coded code has been removed, which will help preventing security issues.  
• Billing system: Setting up billing for cloud services, servers and SIM cards users has been made easier
• Deploy Local Panel: Deployment and self-hosting of your own local panel has been made easier
• Better separation of client's services: Each client will get their own separate virtual master (containing all their services and servers) which can be configured independently and have it's own admin users (managers)
• Redesign of the ticketing system: the ticketing interface has a new and more intuitive design, and it is now possible to attach files directly in tickets
• Better maintenance: The cleaner code base will allow for better maintenance and features to be more easiliy added
